Fed up with the sea of frilly Alcohol-free brands saturating the New Zealand market, we embarked on a journey to create something truly daring, catering to the bold, the ambitious, and those unapologetically confident. We wanted to redefine social gatherings, where being alcohol-free is no longer a dirty little secret.

Outcome

Conceptualised a brand identity from scratch, embodying the essence of our brand through the captivating persona of ‘Earl’. This detail extended to crafting a can design that stands out like nothing in the market does, infusing the brand with a distinct personality, complemented by compelling promotional materials for effective advertising.

Meet Earl, the brainchild of a startup venture dedicated to shaking up the alcohol-free landscape. Targeting the bold, the adventurous, and the health-conscious, Earl embodies a departure from the conventional, offering a refreshing alternative to the status quo.

Gone are the days of subdued and lacklustre alcohol-free options. Earl steps onto the scene with a mission to redefine social gatherings, offering a sophisticated, low-sugar solution that delights the palate and lifts the spirit.
In a market saturated with frills and fluff, Earl stands as a beacon of authenticity, beckoning individuals to embrace a lifestyle defined by choice, not compromise.

Fuelled by a desire to bridge the gap in the New Zealand market, our client embarked on a journey to pioneer a brand that resonates with the discerning consumer. Frustrated by the lack of bold alternatives and the absence of low-sugar options that truly satisfy, they sought to craft a bespoke cocktail line that embodies their values of authenticity and innovation.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, our client recognised the need for a partner who shared their vision and could bring it to life. That's where we came in, tasked with the challenge of translating their aspirations into a tangible reality that would captivate audiences and disrupt the norm.

Our journey with Earl began with an in-depth exploration of the brand's essence, delving deep into the client's aspirations and target audience preferences. Through comprehensive discovery questionnaires and brainstorming sessions, we unearthed the core values that would define Earl's identity – sophistication, wit, authenticity, and reassurance.

With a clear vision in mind, we embarked on the creative journey, starting with the inception of the brand name itself. Through research and creative ideation, Earl emerged as the embodiment of nobility and distinction, a name that resonated with both tradition and innovation. From there, we crafted a visual mood board that captured the essence of Earl's persona, ensuring alignment with the client's vision every step of the way.

The culmination of these efforts resulted in a bespoke brand identity, packaging design, and campaign launch assets that set Earl apart as a trailblazer in the alcohol-free market. From the regal insignia of Earl's logo to the captivating imagery adorning each package, every detail was meticulously crafted to evoke a sense of sophistication and allure.

Utilising my extensive print knowledge I leveraged a two-colour print job for the packaging, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising on visual impact. The centrepiece of the design – Earl the Owl – captivates with its piercing gaze and enigmatic presence, embodying the brand's ethos of wisdom and confidence. Complemented by a sophisticated colour palette and versatile logo design, Earl stands poised to captivate audiences both online and offline.

The launch of Earl heralds a new era in the New Zealand alcohol-free market, offering consumers a tantalising blend of bold flavours and guilt-free indulgence. With Earl by their side, individuals no longer need to compromise on taste or ethics, embracing a lifestyle defined by choice and empowerment.
